AW2518H, power light on, no display? #2

I have this exact problem. Does this mean the AW2518H panel is done? And will warranty cover it? Literally haven’t even had this AW2518H for 90 days yet.

you think you do , you mean,  after all you will never know until the problem is solved, (logic)

RESET ALL POWER>?

I guess you are posting (piggyback style) that you have a dead monitor, why just focus on your hardware not others, after all if his was hit by lightning , why think yours is same, why?

the answer post your facts and what all things you have there, PC, name model and and options.

how are the they connected.

let me do Monitor 101 class for you.. it is not hard, and is PROGRESSIVE , testing.  ok?

  • Monitor all by itself no PC needed nor wanted NOW.
  • unplug the monitor all cables , push power button a few times (3) and make the monitor caps in side dead.
  • then put the AC cord directly to the WALL AC jack one that is HOT. (means  not dead)
  • then power on any monitor , no data cable (DP) and push menu key fast,  do not lag 30 seconds, do it NOW.
  • THE OSD menu must work, if not the MONITOR IS TOAST
  • if this test passes connect monitor to running PC now, turn monitor on last, if the PCs GPU port is dead the monitor will tell you that, with "no sync , no signal, no connections, or the like words" or out of range.
  • The monitor has 2 ports, use  OSD to force the port you are using, do not use  AUTO..
  • that is it for monitor 101 class. good luck.

if this fails, unplugged the monitor from the wall AC for 1 full hour, even more, then test it.

learn that all electronics like this can go to a latched up protection mode,  and can be RESET EASY

do not panic or make warranty claims for ESD events, nobody on earth can avoid, (well lacking ESD lab floors)

Your case has already been assigned to a DELL-Cares agent. I just want to offer some public troubleshooting.

* If you did not purchase this AW2518H directly from Dell, you should fill out the Service Tag number Ownership Transfer form

* For our notes, to what specific PC model, Nvidia video card, and Nvidia video card port is the AW2518H connected?
* Have powered off and then tested (one at a time) both the AW2518H DP in port and then the HDMI in port?

* Does the (disconnected from PC) AW2518H Built-in Diagnostic run? See page 46 in the online AW2518H User's Guide

read page 30 for  OSD button..

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1272762/Dell-Alienware-Aw2518h.html?page=30#manual

the OSD must work using these rules

at monitor power on for up to 30 seconds,  (move fast)

any time good PC is connected OSD works. GPU ports NOT DEAD.

page 20 set OSD delay to 60

5 to 60 seconds (this is range, do not use 5 it is way too fast) but may be default. so change it. to 60 for sure diagnosing any monitor made for 2 decades.

wow 5 seconds would fool anyone thinking a good monitor is dead...

THE OSD runs from the Monitor brain/firmware inside the monitor and always works, if fast enough, LoL

PAGE 46 is  mon diag. RTM.

this monitors  is smarter than the average BEAR, (auto self test,.huh?)

I did purchase the AW2518H directly from Dell's website. When I first received the monitor and plugged it all in and turned it on (not connected to a PC, only power cable) I had the vertical lines streaking throughout the entire monitor. (these are thick vertical lines, maybe about 2-3cm, ranging in color, mostly red and yellow). I unplugged it and re-plugged it and it went away, and I thought nothing of it. Have been using the monitor flawlessly for 74 days.

The other night I went to turn it off and the lines appeared again on the monitor. Once again, I thought nothing of it and turned it off. The next day upon turning it on the vertical lines reappeared and would not go away. I tried all Nvidia settings and checked my refresh rate etc everything looked normal on the PC side and GPU. My 2nd monitor also still worked fine. This led me to believe it's the monitor itself.

I unplugged the monitor for 1 min and discharged any power still in the monitor by holding the power button for 30 seconds and touching the power cord to metal. I re-plugged it in and the power button was a constant blue but the panel itself had no lights and was dark and dim with no visible evidence it was turned on besides the blue indicator. I tried using the OSD menu and holding the 3rd button for 30 seconds with no avail.

When I press the blue power button, it goes off. Re pressing the power button will not do anything, the blue light will not come back on UNLESS I completely unplug the monitor and re-plug it in, then the cycle just repeats itself, screen is black and blue indicator power light is constant. <
