Aurora R12, warranty expired

Alienware Aurora R12

Alienware Aurora R12

I bought an Aurora R12 last year and it brought me nothing but stress and anger. i paid 2300$ for a PREMIUM GAMING MACHINE WITH A NEW RTX 3000 CARD so u would think that u would be able to game and enjoy  ur new pc with no issues for atleast the next 5 year huh ? .... well think again today is jan 1st 2023 an  i still havent been able to sit and play a game or use this pc once like its supposed to be everyday i look at it and cry and feel like smashing it . When i first ordered it  there was an issue with the order so after contacting support we came to a agreement that the pc i had ordered will be returned once i receive it and instead i will receive the same pc (same specs and about 50$ difference in the price ) but with liquid cooling instead of the cheap fan because i had realised it comes with a cheap fan and has no heatsink , but somehow the order with the aoi cooling got canceled without my permission after i had already order it .So now im stuck with a pc that has issues . Since that day ive been contacting dell everyday whether its by chat, phone, whatsapp texting, emails only to hear excuses or sometimes they ignore my emails and text ,when i call i keep having to repeat myself and they keep transfering me to wrong departements and the people on the other end of the call are from foreign countries and can never do anything other than transferring me , paid 400+ extra trying to fix it myself (aftermarket coolers, heatsinks or parts from ebay ) but im not good at these things and dont know how to . They just kept ignoring me till my warranty expired and after it did they suddenly respond quickly to remind me im not under warranty . This is unacceptable i just want to enjoy the pc i paid for .This was my first one and i paid more than i should and put my trust in a 'PREMIUM BRAND'  only to be let down BAD.

. . . to be clear; the blue thermal pad stays on the heatsink; the plastic protective strip is pealed off prior to installation

The blue thermal pads stay on. There is a part without thermal pads because that part does not contact any voltage regulators . . . it sits above the motherboard for extra heat dissipation. There should be a clear plastic protective strip over the blue thermal pads that gets peeled off prior to installation. See the photo below where the clear plastic strip is beginning to peel off in the corner.

What are you rig components (CPU, graphics card, PSU wattage, RAM)? Did you say you installed 3rd party liquid cooling? If not, are you interested in trying?

the cooling is not able to keep up with the pc , it once smoked and i sent a video to dell and they did nothing, cant play games sounds like it gonna explode on idle , i also had something leak on my finger from the processor, the whole thing is unacceptable ive been wanting to dispose of it but need it for work , so sometimes i still turn it on quickly for a couple minutes for emails and stuff . the only thing i was offered was for someone to come and change the cheap fan for another used cheap fan after i showed them a code the pc showed on the screen about a issue it has wich is unacceptable if they want to change something they should change the pc not the cheap fan that was supposed to be a liquid cooler in the first place.

It would likely help if you explain what is not working properly, so we can try and make it work like it should.

This is a user forum . . . so you won't get your money back here. However, if you need some help installing the AIO liquid cooler and heatsinks, maybe an extra fan or two, just let us know.

We can't assist with getting money back. You would have to contact a Dell agent for that.

If you are referring to blue plastic tape on the heatsink that lays on top of the thermal pad strip, then yes it's okay to remove that. It is there to protect the thermal pad from getting dirty or damaged. It comes off real easy. You can remove it prior to putting the heatsink over the VRM.
