Aurora R12, crashing after last Alienware updates

Yesterday evening I installed available Alienware updates and today I already had 2 crashes on my computer within 2 hours, low PC usage: I was just watching a movie on a web streaming platform. I haven't installed anything else on my Windows, neither there was no Windows updates, etc.

It looks like the Alienware updates started to cause the computer to crash.

Is it a known issue? Is there a fix planned?

Forum users.

We have demoted the Nvidia drivers 31.0.15.4609 for Aurora R12.

Now the driver version available is NVIDIA GeForce GT 10xx/GTX 1xx0/RTX x0x0 Graphics Driver

Could you all install the above Nvidia driver and share the outcome with us?

Install the new OEM GPU driver 31.0.15.5168 dated April 8, 2024. Reboot when done and retest.

What does the event log show for the crashes?

@Vanadiel There is no error in windows event logs.

Are you asking about some alienware event log application?

If there's a windows crash typically it's recorded in the Windows event log.

It's odd the crashes are not recorded.

Is it a BSOD, or a crash and recovery without a reboot?

Mine is also doing this after an update on 1/12/24

Users,

Please demote both Nvidia & BIOS to previous version as a workaround to check the impact?

After I installed the latest Nvidia update, the crashes stops. It looks like the Alienware update doesn't work well with the second the last Nvidia driver.
When Nvidia and Alienware updates are up-to-date, I haven't noticed any crash for the last week.

1/12/2024 was when my system started to freeze. It would work for a few hours then absolutely no response from the mouse or keyboard. I needed to turn it off and a quick restart works for another few hours.

Perhaps a sympathetic response to what is happening outside?

@DELL-Jesse L I have no idea how todo this, but I'm freezing to the point I've now had to swap back to my xps for work.

All,

Had the same problem appearing since I installed the W11_23H2 update on 26 January'24.
Full freeze of screen, I/O and keyboard/mouse. Only hard-reset possible. Even had open files corrupted.

On 29th January I installed the latest Alienware Firmware, did not fix the issues.

Last Saterday 3rd Febr I rolled back the Nvidia driver as mentioned.... so far so good after 3 days.

If I run into freezes again, I will mentioned it here.

It seems a correlation with Windows_11_23H2 update and the recents Nvidia driver 4609. Not the Alienware firmware. See below.
