Aurora R12, 48GB ram? #2

Alienware Aurora R12

Alienware Aurora R12

I currently have the 2 8gb 3200 MHz ram slots in use that originally came with my R12.

Am I able to install Crucial Pro RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MT/s (Amazon Link) for a total of 48gb of ram to my system?

I was getting mixed answers on whether or not I could. Thank you for the support.

There are a few issues with that:

- That combination has not been validated, so it's not know if that will work or not: R12 validated memory configurations

- The second part is that this will be mixing different sizes. Again, not validated so unknown if it will work or not.

- Thirdly, that memory is a retail kit, and the XMP profile and the resulting timings will not be matching the OEM modules. This will almost guaranteed cause issues.

In my opinion, it would be a safer bet to stick with the OEM modules and validated configurations, or alternatively you can look up memory kits that worked for other users. There's no guarantee what works for others will work for you, however it's a much safer bet than what you are currently trying to do.

I’ve looked at that thread already. The two solutions to that discuss primarily the problems with different speed in the RAM and only occupying 3 slots. However, mine would be the same speed of 3200 MHz throughout and use all 4 slots.
I would be occupying all 4 slots with a 8,16,8,16 layout all at 3200 speed.
