Have you checked to see if you're even on pcie 4.0? The only Alienware desktop that currently has a pcie slot utilizing gen 4.0 is the R10 Ryzen (and that is only available for the top GPU slot - agesa enabled lanes direct to the CPU).

Also, by default it will automatically drop bandwidth when not in use to save energy/resources.

Ohhh I was wondering why you wanted to go backwards! I'm not aware of a bios switch for this like you'd see with some aftermarket boards but maybe reach out to tech support to confirm.
They do sell Pcie 4.0 riser cables though, which is another option.

Thank you for your help anyway. got them working .. took both gpu out of the case (they caused high fan humming noise in the case and vram overheat) only use 2nd pcie x4 and last one . somehow other combination all failed.

Yeah, just start lining up all the PC internals on the desktop like dominoes. Fan, radiator, GPU, GPU, PSU, case, what can go wrong!

@jayhomies2 . . . took both gpu out of the case
As long as you are spreading your rig out across the desk . . . might as well get rid of that PSU swing-out contraption and bring the PSU out for some air.

Which cables did you order.
I am doing a very similar setup. Anything else besides the cables?
Are GPUs getting power from the motherboard or PSU?
Thanks.
