Media Player 10 Skins Won't Apply

My new Dimension 8400 came with Windows Media Player 10 installed.  I'm used to using version 9 on my son's computer.  There, we can download and apply new "skins".  Well, I can download them with this new Dimension 8400, but I cannot "Apply" the new skins. 

When I open my Skin Chooser, I can see all the new skins there.  I can even click on them.  I cannot, however, open or apply them. The original 6 or 7 skins that came with the machine can be changed and applied, just not new ones.

 

Anyone else having this problem?  If so, how can it be rectified?

I e-mailed Dell and they suggested reinstalling WMP 10 but I don't want to mess with that just yet.  It's not worth messing up a program that otherwise works.

 

I've tried to contact Microsoft, but their help costs big bucks and I cannot find a way to solicit free help from Microsoft.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
