McAfee recovery disks with no floppy drive

I ordered my 8400 without a floppy drive since everything is going toward cd/dvd or flash drive for removable media. The only option to create recovery disks in McAfee is using floppies and wanted to know if there is a work around to do this with the cd/dvd burner or a flash drive. I had Norton on my old computer and it required floppies but being four years old, thought that the technology would change. Contacted McAfee and they had no suggested alternative. My 8400 came with a OS disk for Windows Media Center. Would this serve as the rescue boot disk? Does the BIOS check the dvd drive on start up?
