If I want to get an AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 would Dell install it for me?

Im just using this for A example. But lets say I don't know much about computer's anyway if I bought an AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 would Dell install it for me or can my PSU even handle it?

Short and to the point msgale......Dell was toying with the idea at one brief nano second, in having AMD in our systems, but no more..Intel all the way..

Kudos to you. You are a processor connousier. I also prefer AMD 64 to intel, but what are you gonna do. Dell loves Intel. The only intel processor that can slightly compare to the AMD 64 is the Intel Intananium. u can probably put an amd 64 in yourself its not hard. IF you get a new motherboard.

An AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 is totally incompatiable with an Intel Itantium processor.  Software written for the AMD processor will not work on an Itatium processor  The AMD 64 architecture is compatiable with Intel's IA 32e's architecture which is just starting to appear.  References are available on the Intel and AMD web sites
