Power Supply with Power Factor Correcting

Is it possible to use Power Supply with Power Factor Correcting in some PowerEdge Servers?! I'm interested in using this power supplies with PowerEdge1800 and PowerEdge1850, but if these power supplies is acceptable for another PowerEdges, it could be interesting for me too.

I believe all Dell power supplies have Power Factor Correction. I would like to know why the PFC circuit kicks up the B+ line to 400VDC before the PWM circuit? Is it an industry standard for some reason?
