Dell 2350 won't configure with D-Link 300T ADSL Modem

I am using a Dell Inspiron 6000 with XP and have sucessfully set up an ethernet connected D-LINK DSL 300T ADLS Modem. This is configured as PPPoA, with DHCP enabled and sucessfully connects to my ISP (Demon) with no problems.

I then try to add a Dell 2350 Broadband Wireless Router to the picture and follow the intructions to the letter. The set up (apparently) runs to completion and then comes up with an error message saying the configuration of the Wireless router has failed. I have tried some trial and error stuff like . disabling DCHP on the Dell 2350 (theis reders the devise invisiblt to the PC) and setting it to an Access Point (AP). Neither have worked....................

DELL 6000 (Laptop)<----> "the air" <---->Dell 2350(wireless router)<---> ethernet<-------
Any advice gratefully received............although it may be the two devices just aint compatible.

wilsonfrobisher,

Given that the IP network being used by the 2350 on the LAN side (192.168.2.0/255.255.255.0) doesn't overlap the DSL-300T's (192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0), there's nothing in the specifications that should prevent the two devices from interoperating.

This ADSLguide review briefly describes the DSL-300T's setup when used with a router. The DSL-300T installation guide (a PDF file) shows the setup, using the DI624+ as an example, in greater detail. After PPPoA provisioning is complete, the WAN interface of the router should have the same IP address as the WAN interface of the DSL-300T.

If you used Dell's "wizard" to configure the 2350, you may have encountered problems that weren't due to the 2350, but due to the "wizard". Use the Web-based configuration tool in the 2350 (note that the IP address of the 2350 is http://192.168.2.1) rather than the "wizard" or the "control utility". The 2350 can (and should) be left as a router if D-Link's instructions for configuring routers are followed, and its DHCP server should remain enabled.

There's of course the possibility you cited - they aren't compatible - but given that you're not trying to replace the 300T's PPPoA provisioning with something done in the 2350 (which can't do PPPoA!), there are no obvious conflicts.

wilsonfrobisher, did you manage to resolve the problem? I have exactly the same problem with exactly the same hardware.
