GTX 770 4gb Unable to select 144hz on dell S2716DG.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I bought new monitor, dell S2716DG. My problem is that I can't select 144hz option even at lowest ressolution. Max what I can get is 120hz.

And my question, is that GPU or monitor side problem ? I'm using DP connetion added to my dell.

It would be really great if anyone could help me.

never mind, nvidia has answered my support ticket...

"I've discussed this issue with development and after some research on the specification this is expected due to HW limitation. The 2560x1440@144Hz resolution would require a pixel clock of 586Mhz. The GeForce GTX 770 max pixel clock is 540Mhz. You'll need a GTX 980 class GPU, which has a higher pixel clock, in order to support the 2560x1440@144hz resolution. Let me know if you have any further questions."

We know that the S2716DG is built to do up to 144Hz. So the fault must lie with the video card driver or the video card itself. I would start by reading through this.

Thanks for reply, so monitor is working properly and its video card problem yes ?

I tried almost everything, I'm out of ideas. I think I will just wait for better GPU, but I need to be sure that

monitor is working fine becouse I don't want to refund it...

Are you running in ULMB (Ultra low motion blur) mode?

This only runs up to 120Hz

Have you installed the latest Nvidia driver from the Nvidia website?

I doubt that the monitor is defective on a hardware level. But per the warranty, you may initiate a monitor exchange. Test the replacement before sending any monitor back to Dell. If the replacement does not have the issue, keep it and send us the original. If the replacement has the SAME issue, the monitors were not at fault. Send the replacement back to Dell. Look to the video card as the culprit.

I have the same problem with my S2716DG.

Asus GTX770-DC2
GeForce 361.75
Windows 10

But can anyone explain me, why the OSD is always displaying 2560x1440 as current resolution, even when i change it to a non native one like 1920x1080 or 800x600?? see http://i.imgur.com/Mq9Ioyx.jpg?1
