Insprion 4000 Faulty LCD

We've had this 4000 for a while now, obviously, and it's a good machine. We're converting it into a media pc. The lcd has been flaky for about 2 years. Basically, it gets all scrambled, for lack of a better term. But, if you "tweak" the screen, or just barely twist it at the top corners, it would come back to normal. Now, it'll still do that, but has a green line down the middle of it, and I can never get it "quite right."

I have reseated the cable, but it doesn't change the behavior. The output to a projector is perfect, so it's not the card. Is it just a matter of replacing the actual screen itself?

Thanks.

yes, it sounds like the LCD panel is about at the end of its life.
