Help: Flashing orange lights

I've had this Inspiron 600m for about four years. There are small lights in the lower right-hand corner below the screen. A day ago, I notced that the two right lights, one of which appears to have a symbol for the battery, has started flashing orange, more than it flashes green, the normal color. Any idea what's up? Is the flashing orange light indicating that my battery's life is almost up?
