Well this was the little surfing I got in between laying pieces of sod in the yard today.

I saw one of these firs hand at "Gateway Country" about a year ago. The port replicator was 100% the same with just the gateway logo.

But possibly... maybe.... gateway accessories may be cheaper than Dell accessories?!?!?!? We may keep that in mind if someone comes along..

Gateway already has instructions on how to add ram to one. Something that is Taboo in Dell circles.

They list a different chipset and it is a BGA2 processor.

There is also a solo 3300 that I found on e-bay that looks the same. The batteries appear identical across the 3300, 3350, LS and L400. And the port replicators are the same too.

The Solo 3300 seems to match the LS for specs.

Might be that the 3rd party has a number of motherboards that fit in that case. Dell opted for the higher performance of the Mobility 128 and Gateway went for the cheaper Mobility M. But when the LS was out.. The NeoMagic 256 was what was pretty much standard in the notebook world.

Stonent, good show. I have the Inspiron 2100 and have problem getting parts from Dell. That was some good investigation.

Thanks
