Broken Shift Key

The left shift key has come loose because of the breakage of a small plastic pin holding the key. Does anyone know where I might find a replacement key or even keyboard?  Thanks

SteveSGS,

Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.

You may want to contact Dell Technical Support or Spare Parts to see if the parts are available. Our Spare Parts department can be reached at 800-372-3355 (M-F 7A-6P).

I unfortuantely have had the lettering of a few keys on the laptop fade out which it shouldnt after 4 months and dell sent me a new keyboard sleeve to insert onto the laptop. I only recommend that if you are not handy to actually ship it back to dell for them to do the transplant. It is simple , however if you are not caqreful you can crack the protected joints that mesh the folding screen to the base.

Just follow the directions here:

I used the cap of a bic pen as a "plastic scribe" to pry the hinge cover off. It worked very well. I took the opportunity to clean the inside thoroughly with a lot of compressed air while I had it open.
