Hi darch22,

Please share the Operating system installed.

You may try using the Inspiron N5110 with any alternate monitor and check if the issue persists. You may install the chipset drivers from the links below:

  1. Intel HM67 Express Chipset Family: http://dell.to/QHpdvi
  2. Intel Management Engine Interface: http://dell.to/WoeF5m
  3. Realtek RTS5138 Card Reader: http://dell.to/UgSlgP
  4. USB3.0-Host Controller: http://dell.to/WoeGWO

Step to download drivers:

  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the driver on your desktop.
  • Once the driver is downloaded on the desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Follow the prompts on screen and restart your computer.

Once done, you may uninstall and re install video drivers by following the steps below:

  • Click on “Start” and right click on “Computer”.
  • Click on “Manage”.
  • Click on “Device Manager”.
  • Under “Display adapters”, you will find the video driver listed.
  • Right click on it and click on “uninstall”. (Check and make a note of the driver installed on your system and re-install the driver from the below steps accordingly).
  • Check the box to delete the software.
  • Restart your system and click on the link: http://dell.to/QjjZDA
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • You will find the video driver under “Video”.
  • Click on the video driver depending on the video card your system has. (Install the same video driver which you uninstalled from “Device Manager”.
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.
  • Click on “Download Now”.
  • Save the driver on your desktop.
  • Once the driver is saved on desktop, right click on it and select “Run as administrator”.
  • Install the video driver by following the on screen instructions.
  • Check if the issue is resolved or not. If the issue still persists, update the system BIOS.

Note: Make sure the ac adapter is connected and the battery is charged 10% or above to update the BIOS. Also, disconnect all the external peripherals before updating the BIOS. All the programs should be closed and documents saved.

  • Click on the below link: http://dell.to/QjjZDA
  • Enter the Service Tag of your system and select the operating system.
  • Go to “BIOS” and click on the BIOS available.
  • Click on “Download File”.
  • Select “For Single File Download via Browser”.

Hi darch22,

You may connect the TV with the HDMI connector and remove the display connected to the VGA port. Once done, press a combination of WIndows and P key on keyboard to toggle between the display and see if it helps. You may also try the same settings with VGA port after removing the display from HDMI port.

Another step you may try is to load the factory default settings of your Toshiba TV. Resetting to factory defaults will delete all the customized settings and you may need to configure them again as per your convenience. To reset the TV to factory settings, you may refer to the manual of Toshiba TV.

Please share the findings.

Hi darch22,

You may try troubleshooting steps for your TV from the manual: http://bit.ly/135gdmb If the issue persists, you may need to get in touch with Toshiba to get the TV repaired/replaced (If under warranty).

Please reply for further clarifications.

I have the same problem with samsung smart 32

The samsung support told me to verify if my PC accept the resolution 1920x1080..

That´s a weird problem, because a LG TV 42 works perfectly in the same laptop..

Hi fabriciobrandi,

Are you using Inspiron N5110 laptop? If yes, it supports resolutions upto 1920x1080 with HDMI and upto 2048×1536 with VGA cable. Once the TV is connected to the laptop using HDMI cable, you may try 'Fn'+'F1' (or only F1 button) on keyboard to switch to external display.

Have you tried the steps as given above by DELL-Chinmay S?

You may also try using a different cable and a different HDMI port (if available) on the TV and see if it helps.

You may refer to the Intel's article on connecting TV to laptop with HDMI Here.

Please reply with the findings. Will take it further from there.

Hi fabriciobrandi,

Laptop is capable of supporting 1920x1080 resolutions and you have also tested it successfully . In an extreme scenario, replacing the HDMI port on your system can be considered. However, I would suggest you to to get in touch with Samsung support first and check what is their take on it. Will take it further from there.
