no signal input on monitor
Hi one day i sat down and tried to turn my desktop on and the monitor said "no signal input". So i checked all the wires to make sure they were all pluged in and that there where no bent pins.
I plugged every thing back in and it still dident work so i looked at some forums on the internet and someone said that i should make sure the video card was plugged in and that there was no dust in the contacts. so when i had it pulled out i noticed that one of the (i think its a compacitor or something) was cracked on the top. and so my question is, could that be why my monitor says no signal input?
Also i made sure the monitor was working by hooking it in to my laptop.:emotion-2:
Any help would be appreciated

Could very well be. What is your system model Number? What version of windows are you running? Do you have diagnostic lights on the computer? They could give you an indication if the video card has failed. Short of trying the card in another system without some more info we cannot help much further?

I unplugged everything and nothing has changed. so do you think i need a new motherboard?

Sorry i found the lights, AB and C are green but D is orange

It is looking like that. There is one other thing to try and that would be to unplug the computer, remove the motherboard battery and then press and hold the power button for about 10~15 seconds. Leave the battery out for about 10 mins and then reinstall it. This is a CMOS reset. If after this the code it still the same I would say the mother board is gone .

That can mean a multitude of things. At this point I would suggest you pull everything out of the board all the cards and ram. Disconnect the power connector on all the drives. See if your light codes change. Normally if you do and nothing changes it means that the motherboard has an issue and will most likely need to be replaced.

Its a dimension 8200 and im running xp. I could not find any diagnistic lights. could you tell me where they are please.

I did the test and now its A orange B and C green and D orange. But it still beeps.

I made sure that every the was plugged in and now it says AB and C are green but D is orange again
