Listen & Learn Podcast #2: How to Survive Ransomware

In his award-winning Knowledge Sharing article, Bruce Yellin explores the rapidly increasing threat and presence of ransomware. In 2020, for example, 50% of all US companies were targets of ransomware cyberattacks. By 2021, the number of attacks increased by 148%, with a total of $75B ransom demanded.

In our interview, Bruce shares the standard processes by which ransomware can infect a business’s platforms. He offers the several ways in which cyber criminals can harm the company invaded. These include ransom, encryption, and information theft. The examples flow well into Bruce’s explanation of how an Incident Response Playbook is a preventive tool every business should have at the ready.

Given the fact that ransomware can be planted in any company – small, midsize, or large – via their network, their system, their data, or their people, preparation is critical. Bruce’s article is a handy information source with which to outline your strategy for to prevent a ransomware invasion.

Bruce's recommendations are spot on, my favorite part was when he said "there's a difference between an attack and a successful attack" - he's absolutely right.
