Aurora-R5, upgrade CPU, non K to K
Hello,
I have an Alienware Aurora-R5 and i7-6700 CPU. I was wondering if, in the future, I can change my CPU to another i7 with K unlocked? And buy the Alienware liquid cooling? Will I be able to overclock my CPU via Command Center?

You should be able to, but you cannot use the eighth generation on your motherboard. The cooler is available for $100, but the larger power supply is recommended also. Consult tech support.

The Dell 850w will run a GTX-1070 or a GTX-1080, no problem.
The Aurora-R5 with Intel i7-6700 is fine the way it is. It's not like you have an i5. The i7-6700K is basically the same chip. Real-world benefits of Over-Clocking are minimal.
The motherboard that shipped with the i7-6700K is slightly different. It has the VRM-heat-sink installed, and might even have a different BIOS micro-code to allow that chip to work. See old forum posts about all the users trying processor swaps (with mixed results).
I do suggest you install the Alienware (Asetek-made) Liquid-Cooler. Not sure why they allow you to buy an Intel-i7 config without it.

Thanks for your time.
P.s tell me your opinion about that

Take that or the order you told me before Asetek version?

1. Pretty sure Alienware formally announced they were NOT supporting that. Search forum.
2. Even then, real-world difference it very small
3. I guess I didn't make myself clear. I think the real answer is NEITHER.

I already answered that (the best I can).
Maybe you should search old "Alienware General" forum and come to your own conclusions?

AFAIK, all Alienware Intel-processor Liquid-Coolers are made by Asetek. Always have been all these years.
That looks about right, but you should probably come-up with the Dell Part Number (DPN) for the one you really need. Dell Parts should have them (you would think).
If you look closely, that one is USED. A new one would be better.

Changing processors is a matter of whether you want to play the edge a little for a 6-12% increase in speed. Silicon Lottery and others sell Intels which are selected for higher speed, have their internal conductive paste replaced for better cooling, then stress tested. Re-lids lose their Intel warranty, but SL gives 1 year. They sell 7700K's rated 5.0 and 5.1 GHz. The Alienwares w/liquid coolers may handle this OK, but the motherboards are not premium O/C designs, and may not quite support SL's rating. I am using an SL 5.2 rated 8700K in this R7 at 5.1 with good temp and stability, a notch down. BUT the temps are the same as my original chip at 4.6, so I am happy. SL will also re-lid your chip (about $45-55), or you can DIY.

Unfortunately I can’t take 7700 or etc on alienware r5.
And tell me something please I want to be sure if I understand well Sl and other companies selling CPUs that’s it’s already overclocked to 4.9 - 5 and etc and I only buy it and put it on motherboard right?

I don't know who offers binned (selected) and re-lidded 6700K's. But the 7700 series should work on your MB. A 5.1GHz-binned, re-lidded 7700K would offer a real kick in the pants when run at 5.0, and run at reasonable temperatures (82 deg C or less) under heavy load, with good cooling. SL only charges $10 more for the 5.1, so I wouldn't bother with the 5.0. The Alienware AIO (liquid cooler) and case fans should be enough for game use, but long-time heavy use requires a bigger case and more fans, two or three with the AIO, and two or three on the case. Overclocking the faster graphics cards can also generate a lot of heat.
The cpus don't come overclocked, rather are more or less overclockable. You have to use a utility like Intel's XTU to do it. Overclockers.net is a good research site and there are a lot of o/c guides on the net.

Here you go ... a new one from Dell:
http://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/aurora-liquid-cooling-kit/apd/412-aajj/pc-accessories#polaris-pd
Some people said they also got the motherboard's VRM Heatsink. Other's say they just got the cooler. I would take it either way. If you order it, let us know what you got in this "cooling kit".

I know nothing about this particular item, but a Forum Member found it, so I thought I would pass on this info to you.

And there it is, J46J2, hardest part in the Dell Catalog to purchase:
