Unable to Downgrade or Update BIOS Without a Monitor Attached to Desktop
Owners of OptiPlex 3060, 5060, and 7060 desktops may experience an issue when upgrading the BIOS without a monitor connected to your computer. If you do not have the monitor connected to the device, the FLASH does not start and the desktop reboots to its operating system.
This also occurs if you are trying to downgrade the BIOS for any reason.
原因
The computer is expected to do this on every attempt, where the Legacy Option Read Only Modules (ROM) are not enabled in the BIOS.
解决方案
Dell added this functionality into BIOS update version 1.7.1 which was released July 17, 2020.
Using the no monitor install with BIOS 1.7.1 installed:
This requires the use of the /novideo
switch when updating the BIOS past 1.7.1:
- The command can be used in either:
- Command Line (That is Command Prompt or PowerShell.)
- Added while running the update file in the Windows Operating System
- Command-Line Example:
OptiPlex_7060_1.16.0.exe /s /r /novideo
OptiPlex_7060_1.16.0.exe /s /r /novideo
Note: While this functionality was added with version 1.7.1, you must attach a screen to update the computer to revision 1.7.1. You have to wait to install the next BIOS update before you can use this feature.
