Light Leakage

Note: Some Light leakage will exist on all monitors and this is normal in the monitor industry.

Light leakage should not be inspected in dark room.

All monitors are inspected per industry standard, which is with 150lux ambient lighting (similar to typical office lighting). Any visual inspection should be done in the same manner.

Video Ghosting or Overshooting.

The P4317Q is factory tuned to provide the best viewing performance for office and graphics productivity usage. On certain applications with fast moving images (e.g. fast moving games), imaging ghosting, which appears as a trailing shadow, may occur.

If you encounter this issue, change the Response Time

  1. Go to the Monitor On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu
  2. Select Display, then select Response Time
  3. Switch between Normal or Fast to find the best performance for your application

Picture by Picture (PBP) - The picture does not fill entire screen

The black bars on the screen (aka shadowboxing) are present because the monitor is displaying the image based on it's original resolution aspect ratio.

To fill the screen in 2 PBP Mode:

  1. Go to the Monitor On-Screen Display (OSD) Menu
  2. Select PIP/PBP, then select PBP Size

Max screen resolution is only 1920x1080 on D-Sub Video Graphics Array (VGA) connection

The maximum resolution on Video Graphics Array (VGA) is 1920x1200@60Hz. This is VGA bus limitation.

If you need to display a higher resolution, please use the High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) or DisplayPort (DP) input connections for the display.

Screen stitching

A tearing issue may occur when user try to stitch 4 individual video sources into one full screen. This happens using AMD Radeon Graphics card.

P4317Q is capability of displaying one 4K2K in full using 1 HDMI or 1 DP cable. There is no need to stitch 4 individual sources to form one full screen.

If screen stitching is needed, you can try the following:

  1. Right Click and Choose AMD Radeon Settings
  2. Select EyeFinity Tab
  3. Select Quick Select Up for automatically creating an EyeFinity Display Group
  4. Once the EyeFinity Display Group has been created, the setup is complete. If are you satisfied with the EyeFinity group, you may close AMD Radeon Settings.
  5. With an EyeFinity display group created, the following options should be available in the Eyefinity section:
    • ** Discard – Removes the Eyefinity display group and revert to the previous display configuration

Blank screen due to graphics bandwidth issue

Due to a graphics bandwidth issue, connecting multiple video inputs from the same system to the same monitor may lead to some screens appearing as blank. This is a graphics bandwidth issue, not a failure of the display.

Potential Scenario:

  • 44 Inputs(FHD) to P4317Q from a HP Thin Client (HPt730)
  • 2 Additional QHD inputs to 27" QHD monitor from the same HP thin Client (HPt730)

The HP T730 does not have enough bandwidth to support 6 inputs with displays above 1920 x 1080@60 Hz resolution :

** 3840 x 2160 @60Hz generally requires 500M of bandwidth.
So T730 can support 2 ports (500MHz x 2 = >1000M => 3840 x 2160@60Hz)
Support 4 Ports ( 1000M / 4 => 250M => 3840 x 2160@30Hz)
Support 6 Ports (1000M / 6 => 167M => 1920 x 1080@60Hz)

** P4317Q 4 Ports (1920x1080@60Hz) + U27 2 Port (2560x1440@60Hz) => bandwidth is over the 500M

Note: Default refresh rate is 60 Hz. When configuring support for three or 4 displays @ UHD/4K resolution the screen refresh rate must be changed in the screen resolution settings to 30 Hz.
