Networked Printer Ports Properties and IP Address Troubleshooting in Windows 11 and Windows 10

Laser and Inkjet Printers

1. Ensure the computer can access the Internet and print a Settings Report from the printer. For more information about how to do this, reference the user's guide from Dell User Guides / Manuals.
2. Ensure the portal properties and IP address settings are correct. To check the portal properties and IP settings, perform the following steps:
   1. In the Search box, type Control Panel.
   2. Touch or click Control Panel (Windows Application).
   3. Touch or click Devices and Printers.
   4. Touch and hold or right-click the printer.
   5. Touch or click Printer Properties.
   6. Touch or click Ports.
   7. Ensure there is a check mark next to the printer listed in the Printer column.
   8. Touch or click Configure Port.
   9. Ensure the listing next to Printer Name or IP address: is the same as the Printer Name or the IP address that is listed on the Settings Report.
      (If not, change the Printer Name on the Configure Standard TCP/IP Port Monitor window.)
   10. Touch or click OK.
   11. Touch or click Close.
3. To prevent your router from giving the printer different IP addresses (and possibly lose connection), it is recommended that you configure the router to always give the printer the same IP address. That process differs from router to router. Reference the wireless router documentation or contact the wireless router manufacturer. For more information about accessing the router, reference the Opening the Login Page of the Router section.
4. Once the router has been configured, turn off the printer for 1 minute and then turn it back on.
5. Restart the computer.

Opening the Login Page of the Router

1. From the Desktop screen, touch and hold or right-click the network icon ( or ) in the notification area (located in the lower right corner).
2. Touch or click Open Network and Sharing Center.
3. Touch or click Local Area Connection on the right-side of the window.
4. Click Details.
5. Locate and write down the IP address to the right of IPv4 Default Gateway.
6. Open an Internet browser.
7. In the address bar, type http://[Default_Gateway_ip_address], where [Default_Gateway_ip_address] is the IPv4 Default Gateway IP address (do not include the brackets).
8. Log in to the router. For some of the most common router user name and passwords, reference Table 1.
