Cause

Updating to these BIOS versions (or newer) sets up the BIOS-based User Selectable Thermal Tables (USTT) feature for these computers. The USTT feature is what changes the default setting to Optimizer mode.

Note: This is the expected behavior of the newer BIOS updates.

When the BIOS update is installed, and has enabled the USTT feature. Any future BIOS updates should have the DPM setting remain without any further change.

However, If you were to skip installing the version in the above table. If instead you were to update directly to a higher version in the future. Dell Power Management is still default set to Optimizer mode.

If you need Dell Power Management set to a different mode, you should:

  1. Update your BIOS.
  2. Enter the BIOS.
  3. Manually change the Dell Power Management setting.
