Symptoms

The vSphere Client remote plug-in architecture is designed to integrate plug-in functionality into the vSphere Client without the need to run inside vCenter Server.
Starting from 8.0.210 release, VxRail supports vSphere Client remote plug-in architecture, the legacy local plugin is deprecated.

But if there are other lower version clusters under the same vCenter who are still using the legacy local plugin, you will encounter 2 issues:
  • Issue 1, the 8.0.210 cluster shows under VxRail dashboard dropdown list, but the detailed page shows 404 not found.

  • Issue 2, when navigating to the host configuration page, there are duplicated VxRail plugin menus.

Cause

8.0.210 release moves the dashboard page to cluster configuration view.

But the local plugin still detects 8.0.210 cluster and add into the dashboard selection dropdown list.

Resolution

1. Navigate to the 8.0.210 cluster name → "Summary" → Custom Attributes Card → Click "Edit"

2. Delete value of "VxRail-IP" and "VxRail-SSL-THUMBPRINT" and click "Save" button.

3. Logout and login vCenter UI to check if all the clusters plugin work fine.
