PowerEdge MX7000: Multiple Chassis Groups' Management IP address is Unable to Connect

Summary: This article addresses the PowerEdge MX7000 Multiple Chassis groups' management IP address unable to connect issue.

Symptoms

There are six MX7000 chassis to be stacked and managed as a group. Unexpectedly, all members' management IP addresses were unable to connect. Also, there were two blades' iDRAC IP addresses unable to connect.
  1. Check that the MX7000 chassis Management Module (MM) light and GB port cabling are good.

  1. Use laptop direct connection on each chassis' MM to confirm that they can be connected to as expected.
  2. The Leader Chassis login OpenManage Enterprise-M user interface does not show full information. It seems the MM firmware stopped responding (not failed). Direct connection to other chassis member and login OpenManage Enterprise-M user interface shows full information.

Cause

The Leader Chassis MM1 firmware has stopped responding (not failed).

Resolution

For this case:
  1. Remove the MM1 from the Leader Chassis
  2. Failover to MM2
  3. Installs MM1
MM Firmware is 1.30.10.

All members' management IP address can now connect. Log in to the OpenManage Enterprise-M user interface shows the six chassis members information, and the issue is resolved.
