While it is possible to perform a generic device search on the VMware Compatibility Guide, remember that many variants of the same device can exist.
To ensure you are using the best driver possible and understand the minimum required firmware for that driver, you should use the PCI ID information.
To obtain the PCI ID - obtain a SupportAssist Collection from the IDRAC.
You can open the zipped archive, access the folder 'tsr' then open viewer.html
From the summary page of the SupportAssist Collection, scroll down to 'PCI Devices' then locate the required device.
Click the device, scroll down to see the device properties - highlighted is the PCI ID information, this is what is required to search the VMware page.
Go to the VMware compatibility guide here: https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io - Enter the PCI ID information per the colour coding.
Finally, the results are shown. Note here that while this is an Intel device, the PCI ID correctly identifies it as a Dell supplied OEM variant. The minimum required firmware is also shown.
