Symptoms

A device driver or software driver is a computer program allowing higher-level computer programs to interact with a hardware device. For the Latitude E5470, all the driver installations for the devices are similar except that some computers may have more devices than the other.

After a clean installation of the Microsoft Windows 10 operating system, you must install the following drivers and software packages:

Microsoft Windows 10

Note: Use this page as a reference for what the drivers should look like in Device Manager when installed. Drivers can be downloaded from the Dell Support Site.

Note: See Drivers and Downloads FAQs for help with identifying video controllers and other hardware components.

Note: The drivers installation for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10 are mostly identical. Most of the device drivers are preinstalled during the Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 installation process. For best results, we recommend installing the Intel Chipset driver utility first.

After a fresh copy of Windows is installed, always install the Intel Chipset driver utility first. After that, you can install the rest of the devices' drivers in any sequence. However we would recommend you follow the convention below.

Categories Driver Name Windows 10
Chipset Drivers Chipset
Chipset Drivers Intel Management Engine
Chipset Drivers Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework
Chipset Drivers O2 Micro
Chipset Drivers USB 3.0 Optional as Windows 8.1 installs the default native USB 3.0 driver.
Video Drivers Intel HD Graphics
Audio Drivers Realtek
Network Drivers WLAN and Bluetooth

System Drivers

Note: The driver list is based from driver installation from the Resource media. Generally, Windows has comprehensive support for many items, but the following Dell-branded drivers and software must be installed for proper operation if the operating system has been removed and reinstalled.

Note: Click the title of the section that you want to open below in order to see the contents.

Check if the chipset driver is installed by looking at Device Manager (shown below). Install the Intel chipset update from the Dell Support Website or by inserting the Dell Resource DVD. If you are installing from the DVD, choose:

Windows 10 > Chipset Drivers > Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility

Before Installation After Installation

Check if the Intel Management Engine Components Installer driver is installed by looking at Device Manager (shown below). Install the Intel Management Engine Components Installer update from the Dell Support Website or by the Dell Resource DVD. If you are installing from the disc, choose:

Windows 10 > Chipset Drivers > Intel Management Engine Components Installer

Check if the video driver is installed by looking at Device Manager (shown below). Install the video driver update from the Dell Support Website or by the Dell Resource DVD. If you are installing from the disc, choose:

Windows 10 > Video Drivers > Intel Skylake HD Graphics Halo GT2

Check if the WLAN driver is installed by looking at Device Manager shown below. It shows an exclamation mark on Network Controller. For this example, we are using the Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8260 card. The Intel Dual-Band Wireless-AC 8260 update can be installed from the Dell Support Website or from the Dell Resource DVD. If you are installing from the disc, choose:

Windows 10 > Network Drivers > Intel Dual-Band Wireless - AC 8260 driver

Before Installation After Installation
Intel Dual-Band Wireless - AC 8260 Other Devices before installation Intel Dual-Band Wireless - AC 8260 Network Adapters after installation

Check if the WLAN driver is installed by looking at Device Manager shown below. It shows an exclamation mark on Network Controller. For this example, we are using the Intel Ethernet Connection I219-LM Controller driver. This device can be updated from the Dell Support Website or from the Dell Resource DVD. If you are installing from the disc, choose:

Windows 10 > Network Drivers > Intel Ethernet Connection I219-LM Controller driver

Note: Windows 8.1 comes with the Ethernet driver in its operating system and can detect the Ethernet device without going through the drivers installation process. Despite this, Dell still continues to supply both drivers in the Dell Resource CD.
