Setting up the Wireless Network Connection on the Dell Chromebook

Normally, you set up the network during the initial setup process when you start up the Chromebook for the first time. However, if you are not within range of a network then or if you choose to change the network setup later, it is simple to do.

Broadcasting or Available Networks

To connect to a Broadcasting or Available Network, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the area on the lower right of the screen (where the time and battery charge indicator are).
Note: Ensure the wireless is turned on, the slider is to the right of the Join other network icon Join other network.
  1. Click Not connected or the current wireless network that you are connected so you can change wireless networks.
  2. Click the desired wireless network.
  3. Enter all necessary login information, and then click Connect.

Non-Broadcasting or Hidden Networks

To connect to a Non-Broadcasting or Hidden Networks, perform the following steps:

  1. Click the area on the lower right of the screen (where the time and battery charge indicator are).
Note: Ensure the wireless is turned on, the slider is to the right of the Join other network icon Join other network.
  1. Click Not connected or the current wireless network that you are connected so you can change wireless networks.
  2. Click the Join other network icon Join other network.
  3. Enter all necessary login information, and then click Connect.
    Note: You must know the SSID, what type of Security is used and the Password or Passphrase of the wireless network to be able to connect. When you do not have that information contact the owner or manufacture of the wireless router.
