Troubleshooting

Problems Possible solutions
Multiple displays are not working
  • The DA305 supports only a single display out at the one time.
Unable to read and write to an external SSD, HHD or Optical (CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray) drive when connected to the DA305
  • Some external devices require higher power than the DA305 can supply.
  • When the DA305 is not connected to a power pass-through port, you should connect the device directly to the computer.
  • When the DA305 is connected to a power pass-through port, we recommend only connecting one device through the adapter. Connect any additional devices directly to the computer.
Power Surge Message appears when a device is connected to the DA305
  • The device that you connected requires more power than the DA305 can supply.
  • Disconnect any other devices connected through the adapter.
  • For peripherals that require more power, we recommend you connect them directly to the computer.
Wake on LAN, PXE boot, and MAC address pass-through do not work on the DA305
  • The DA305 does not support these features.
Resolution on monitor is lower than 4K 30 Hz when connected to the HDMI, DisplayPort, of the DA305
  • Check that the monitor is capable of supporting 4k 30 Hz.
  • 4K at 30 Hz is the maximum resolution available on computers that support below DisplayPort 1.3, with a capable monitor.
Video and/or Audio performance issues
  • Ensure that the computers drivers are up to date from the Dell Support site.
No Video on the monitor that is connected to the DA305
  • Ensure that all the cables are connected properly.
  • Disconnect the monitor from the adapter and wait for ten seconds before connecting it again.
Video is distorted or pixelated on the attached monitor
  • Ensure that all the cables are connected properly.
  • Check that the monitor and computer are set to the correct screen resolution.
The DA305 is not charging your computer or is charging really slowly. You may see a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark on the battery status icon.
  • The DA305 supports 90 W maximum through the power pass-through.
  • The DA305 reserves 15 W, so your computer gets 15 W less from the power source. This can cause the slow charging message to appear.
  • It is recommended that you connect the power source directly to the computer and not through the adapter.
