Dell System Update (DSU) is a script optimized update deployment tool for applying Dell Update Packages (DUP) to Dell PowerEdge servers.

DSU is available as a Dell Update Package (DUP):

ESXi 6.7 U3 DUP (DSU 2.0.0) - Not supported on PowerEdge 13G due to iDRAC limitation.
ESXi 7.0 U3 DUP - Not supported on PowerEdge 13G due to iDRAC limitation.
ESXi 8.0 DUP - Not supported on PowerEdge 13G due to iDRAC limitation.
Note: DSU 2.0.2.x does not support ESXi 8.0 host Remote connectivity Linux/ESXi (resolution being worked).

Note: DSU is designed to work with community Linux Distributions such as CentOS and Debian.

- Linux, Windows, and ESXi versions with the same features and functionality
- DSU for Linux can work with either the Dell Enterprise Catalog (or a custom catalog created using Dell Repository Manager) or the Dell Linux Repository for access to Linux update packages
Note: Dell Technologies recommends using the Dell Enterprise Catalog as it is refreshed on Mondays, while Linux Repository is refreshed on the 2nd and 3rd Monday.
Running Linux from a Virtual Machine requires installation from the Linux Repository.
- DSU for Windows, Linux, and ESXi works with the Dell Enterprise Catalog (or a custom catalog created using Dell Repository Manager)
- Option to create a custom bootable ISO
- DSU is the technology used by Dell Repository Manager for the Smart Bootable ISO and Smart Deployment Script features.
- The DSU User Guide contains a complete list of CLI attributes and sample scripts.
Once DSU is installed on the server, that it will:
- Inventory the PowerEdge server and determine what updateable components are installed
- Determine which components have new updates available
- Apply those updates
