In this video, we show how to replace the BOSS N1 card module on a PowerEdge R760xs. Before removing the BOSS N1 card module, read through and follow the safety guidelines to protect your system from potential damage and ensure your personal safety.
For more information about safety guidelines, see the R760xs Service Manual at Dell.com/Support. In order to remove the BOSS N1 card module, you must first remove the BOSS N1 card carriers, cover and air shroud. To remove the BOSS N1 card carrier: Lift the retention latch to release it.
Slide it out of the BOSS N1 controller card module. Repeat this for the remaining module. To remove the cover: Use a screwdriver to rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlocked position. Next, lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Then lift the cover from the system. To remove the air shroud: Hold the air shroud at both ends and lift it out of the system. To remove the BOSS N1 controller card module: Disconnect the power and signal cables from the system board. Remove the two screws securing it in place.
Then slide the module out of the back of the system. To install the BOSS N1 controller card module: Route the cables through the slot on the system. Slide the module all the way in and tighten the two screws securing it in place. Then reconnect the power and data cables to the system board.
To install the air shroud: Align it with the chassis and lower until firmly seated. To install the cover: Align the system cover with the guide slots on the system and place it on the system. Next, close the system cover release latch.
Finally, using a screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position. Align and insert the carrier into the BOSS N1 controller card module slot.
