How to Update PowerEdge Firmware Using iDRAC 9

Here's how to update the firmware of your PowerEdge server remotely through the iDRAC 9 interface.

Here’s how to update firmware using iDRAC 9. Visit dell.com/support and download the update files to your local machine. Log in to iDRAC. Click “Maintenance”, then “System Update”. Click “Browse”. Select the update file. Then click “Upload”. Repeat if more than one update is required.

Expand the update details to view the current and available versions. Select the update to install. For updates that don’t require a reboot, select “Install”. For updates that do require a reboot, select “Install and Reboot” or “Install Next Reboot”. Open the job queue to monitor the progress of the update.
