This video shows you how to start or restart the Windows Print Spooler Service. The Windows Print Spooler Service manages the queue of print jobs on your PC.
If there is a problem with the spooler, documents may fail to print, get stuck in the print queue, or cause printers to disappear from the 'Devices and Printers' folder.
Open the Services Management Console by entering 'services.msc' into a Windows Run dialogue or Search box and pressing the return key. Locate 'Print Spooler' in the list of services.
The status column should show 'Running' and 'Startup Type' should be set to 'Automatic'. If the service is not running right-click and select 'Start'. If the service is running, but you are having trouble printing or clearing documents from the queue right-click, and select 'Restart'.
If the 'Startup Type' is set to 'Manual' or 'Disabled' right-click, and select 'Properties'. Change the 'Startup Type' to 'Automatic', then click 'Apply'. Click the 'Start' button, then 'OK'.
