This video shows how to replace the graphics card on an XPS 8950. Before you begin, power off the system and disconnect all the attached peripherals.
Ensure that you always use ESD protection when working inside the system. To begin, loosen the captive screw that secures the left-side cover latch, then pull on the latch to release the cover from the chassis.
Holding the left-side cover firmly on both sides, lift the left-side cover from the chassis. Place the computer on its side. To remove the graphics card, Press down on the securing clip to disconnect power cables from the graphics card.
Release the lock mechanism on the graphics-card support bracket and slide it off the chassis. Then, Lift the PCIe door. Press and hold the securing tab on the graphics-card slot to release the graphics card from the PCIe x16 slot on the system board.
Now, Lift the graphics card off the system board and out of the system. To install the new graphics card, Insert the graphics card into the PCIe x16 slot on the system board and press down firmly.
And then close the PCIe door. Place and slide the graphics-card bracket into place on the chassis and engage the lock mechanism on the bracket, securing it.
Then, connect the power cables to the graphics card. Now, Place the computer in an upright position. Holding the left-side cover firmly on both sides, Place the bottom edge of the left-side cover into the chassis and press the left-side cover into place.
