Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
Power off the system and all attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet and disconnect the peripherals.
If applicable, remove the system from the rack.
Remove the system cover.
Remove the support bar.
Remove the air shroud top cover.
Remove the cooling fan cage assembly.
Remove the air shroud.
NOTE: If BOSS-N1 module is installed, be sure to disconnect the BOSS-N1 power cable and signal cable before removing the riser 1 cage.
Disconnect the riser cables from the PEM connectors, observe the cable routing.
NOTE: See cable routing section for more information.
If required, disconnect all the UPI cables from the PEM connectors.
If required, remove the PEM to disconnect the riser cable connectors from the system board.
Remove the riser air shroud to access VGA bracket and riser 2.
If required, open the cable holder on the system board to access riser cables.
For supported riser configurations, see the Expansion card installation guidelines section.
Removing the expansion card riser 3:
Loosen the captive screws on the riser and system.
Rotate the riser handle to unlock the riser from the system.
Holding the riser handle and edges lift the expansion card risers from the connector on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws and lift the VGA bracket from the system.
Press the blue release tab on the riser 2 and holding the riser by the blue touch points, lift the riser 2 from the system board.
If the risers are not going to be replaced, install riser blanks, and if required tighten the captive screws.
Installing the expansion card riser 3 :
If installed, remove the riser blanks and if required loosen the captive screws.
NOTE: Store the riser blanks for future use. Filler brackets must be installed in empty expansion card slots to maintain Federal Communications Commission (FCC) certification of the system. The brackets also keep dust and dirt out of the system and aid in proper cooling and airflow inside the system.
Holding the touch points, align the holes on the expansion card riser 2 with the guides on the system board.
Lower the expansion card riser into place and press the touch points until the expansion card riser connector is fully seated on the system board.
NOTE: Connect the riser 2 cables to the system board connectors.
Align the guide pin on the VGA bracket with the slot on the riser 2.
Lower the VGA bracket and tighten the captive screws.
NOTE: Install the riser air shroud after installing the riser 2 and the VGA bracket.
Holding the riser handle, align the holes on the expansion card riser with the guides on the system.
NOTE: If required, connect the cables from the risers to the system board.
Lower the expansion card riser into place and press the touch points until the expansion card riser connector is fully seated on the system board connector.
Tighten the captive screws on the risers and system if any.
If opened, close the cable holder on the system board.
If removed, install the PEM.
Connect all the UPI cables and riser cables to the PEM connectors, observe the cable routing.
NOTE: See cable routing section for more information.
If removed, connect the BOSS-N1 signal and power cable to the connectors on the BOSS module.
Install the air shroud.
Install the cooling fan cage assembly.
Install the air shroud top cover.
Install the support bar.
Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
Replace the system cover.
If applicable, install the system into the rack.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet, and then power on the system.
Install any device drivers required for the card as described in the documentation for the card.
