Prerequisites
Follow the safety guidelines listed in Safety guidelines.
Power off the system and attached peripherals.
Disconnect the system from the electrical outlet, and disconnect the peripherals.
Lay the system on its side.
Removing the system cover:
Pull the system cover release latch.
Remove the system cover.
Opening the PSU assembly:
Slide the PSU assembly release latches to the unlock position.
Lift the PSU assembly.
Removing a memory module:
Locate the appropriate memory module socket.
CAUTION: Handle each memory module only by the card edges, ensuring not to touch the middle of the memory module or metallic contacts.
Push the ejectors outward on both ends of the memory module socket to release the memory module from the socket.
Lift and remove the memory module from the system.
NOTE:If you are removing the memory module permanently, install a memory module blank. The procedure to install a memory module blank is similar to that of the memory module.
Installing a memory module:
Locate the appropriate memory module socket.
CAUTION:Handle each memory module only by the card edges, ensuring not to touch the middle of the memory module or metallic contacts.
CAUTION:To prevent damage to the memory module or the memory module socket during installation, do not bend or flex the memory module; insert both ends of the memory module simultaneously.
Open the ejectors on the memory module socket outward to allow the memory module to be inserted into the socket.
Align the edge connector of the memory module with the alignment key of the memory module socket, and insert the memory module in the socket.
CAUTION:Do not apply pressure at the center of the memory module; apply pressure at both ends of the memory module evenly.
NOTE:The memory module socket has an alignment key that enables you to install the memory module in the socket in only one orientation.
Press the memory module with your thumbs until the socket levers firmly click into place.
Closing the PSU assembly:
Lower the PSU assembly until the PSU assembly is firmly seated.
Slide the PSU assembly release latches to the lock position.
Installing the system cover:
Align the tabs on the system cover with the slots on the chassis.
Press the system cover until it clicks into place.
Place the system upright on a flat, stable surface.
Reconnect the peripherals and connect the system to the electrical outlet.
Power on the attached peripherals and then power on the system.
