Touchpad driver A0E9 induces high CPU usage , best disabled
Hello
Ever since I purchased my Inspiron 7706 I am facing this: from day one, I could hear the fan blowing air and the unit would always be warm. This is not good when you use a device for hours in any case.
Looking into it, i find out that overwall CPU usage from win11 taskmgr is 15%, on a machine doing nothing. I ended up pinpointing the device inducing the useless CPU load, it is the touchpad.
I use 99% of the time a wireless keyboard so I end up disabling the touchpad and the CPU usage goes down to 1%.
I opened a ticket with support, got closed with 'works as designed' , which in my view reads little respect for designers, and of course users. Who wants to accept a 14% CPU load for monitoring an idle touchpad I do not use. The 'fix' that I was given was to lower the CPU capability , hence heats less hence fan noise reduces hence problem solved. I find several instances of end users encounterin the same issue, same fix is given.
**not good**
Needless to say, Intel says this must be a driver issue, Dell Update says driver is uptodate, and MSUpdate also.
==>> Is anyone able to give me a hint of how to make this work ? 15% usage for monitoring a touchpad, not a good design in my view. A big waste, I am trying not to get started on the environmental issues beyond my own (noise, heat, dust, electricity bills)
thank you
