Hi,

I'have a Dell T130 fully up to date with a Xeon E-3 1220 v5

I plug 2x SK Hynix 16GB 2Rx8 PC4 - 2133P - EE0 - 11 | HMA82GU7MFR8N - TF T0 AC 1635

But I get a Critical Memory Error on POST

Considering troubleshooting steps taken, it could be a faulty DIMM. If you follow memory installation guidelines and it seems okay. I would suspect a hardware issue. But anyway you can check the memory within minumum POST as below. To prevent the possibility of other components that cause this problem.

The minimum components to allow the Dell™ PowerEdge™ T130 to complete POST are as follows:

  • System board
  • CPU with heat sink
  • Single DIMM configuration with DIMM in socket A1
  • Control panel with cable (to power system on)
  • Power supply unit

Also came to my mind might be you can try to NVRAM_CLR via jumpers might be help. https://dell.to/3MX1xCU

Other than that for memory test, you can run embedded hardware diagnostic test https://dell.to/3wdDbhA

And if you want to check with support live image SLI(centos OS) it has some useful test tools https://dell.to/3siYFrV

Hi,

I know you already stated server is up to date but Can you check BIOS version again please? because in this article mentions the same warnings for T130 https://dell.to/39B3S82;

T130 BIOS Version 2.13.0 https://dell.to/3wcXhse

  • "No memory is detected" - logged event when no memory is detected
  • "Memory is detected, but is not configurable" - logged event for memory initialization error.
  • "BIOS POST memory test failed" - logged event for memory test error
  • "Incorrect memory configuration" - logged event for unsupported DIMM, Non-ECC DIMM and mixed DIMM

Hope that helps!

The BIOS is in 2.13.0, and in Lifecycle event, I go :

PST0129 - Memory is detected, but is not configurable

I also try to plug and unplug the memory, test on other slots (slots are OK)

I checked that warning and most of similar cases resolved after BIOS update. But in your case FW is updated. Please overlook memory installations guide https://dell.to/3FqKFC3;

Can you try to drain residual electricity as below?
1. Power the server down.
2. Disconnect server from all power cables, Network cables.
3. Hold down the power button continuously for at least 10 seconds.
4. Insert power cables and network cables back into the system.
5. Wait about 2 minutes before powering on server to give the iDRAC time to initialize.
6. Power the system on.

If you have known good another DIMM please also try it.

Yes, I have 2x SK Hynix 8GB 2Rx8 PC4 - 2133P - EE0 - 11 | HMA41Gu7AFR8N - TF F0 AA (1632 and 1648)

They work well

You think my new 16gb memory is dead, is it possible to test then ?
