XtremIO clone script

Hi,

I have customer using VNX with clone last time.  They have converted their environment to XtremIO that is virtualized behind the VPLEX.   They want to create a script to automatically create the clone.   I was wondering whether this is possible under XIO.

XtremIO does not have the concept of clones. You can create snapshots which will provide the same kind of benefit that clones provide on traditional arrays. The additional benefit being that you get space efficiencies.

You can create snapshots on XtremIO using CLI or RestAPI. However, you would need to map it to the VPLEX array just like you would have done it with VNX clones. If you are using ViPR Controller, it provides a very easy and intuitive way to create snapshots at the VPLEX level (which will automatically create snapshots on XtremIO, map it to VPLEX, etc).

Hope this helps.

Do you have a support account? You might need to register with support.emc.com first to get into the site. Then you should be able to download.

We are currently not a XtremIO customer, but would like to take a look at its REST API capabilities.  When I try to access the link I get an error "You are not authorized to access this page."

thanks.

Yes, I do have an EMC support account, however, we don't own any EMC products or licenses.  I was logged into the EMC support account , which I used to post this question.   However, still get "not authorized" when I click on the link for the REST API documentation.

Not sure why it would be blocked - might be your account access/permissions depending on how you registered with support.emc.com. Maybe product management can chime in on its access/restriction use case.
