XtremIO 4.x NDU Process

Hello,

Will the procedures for both an NDU and Cold upgrade process be posted to Solve or support.emc.com at any point? I have clusters that need to go through both process and the documentation just released only states to create a service request to schedule the upgrades.

Thank you

At this time, all upgrades are handled through the Support team. And creating the SR is the right way to go.

Thanks, I have already created the SR prior to posting so I will work it through those channels.

Thanks Avi....maybe it is a link issue since I don't see them under the "support by product" documentation list on support.emc.com. I did get it through Solve though.

For the NDU, this is a new cluster so its not an online upgrade. I have escalated the case a few times now so I will hope they get back to me in time otherwise go with the rescue image approach I guess. I assumed since the guides stated this procedure had to be obtained from EMC Support, that it was a quick turnaround of an actual procedure for net new clusters that want to be installed as 4.0 but shipped with 3.x.

NDUs are being handled through EMC Support at this time. And I know that there have been a whole bunch of upgrade requests which the support team is working through. I would recommend escalating your SR at least to get a response on when the upgrade is being scheduled for you.

I am able to access all the 4.0 documentation through the link that I sent earlier. Do you have internal access to EMC tools by any chance (you mentioned Solve below)?

Avi - is this process very complex or something? I have created a case 7 days ago and followed up several times to get this procedure for my customer and there has been no response. It seems that if this array was shipped with 3.x code (likely given the shipping date) that the preferred method would be to load the 4.x rescue image from the start and then proceed with the 4.x installation procedures....just curious if you see any issues with this. In the absence of support response, this is the method I will be performing.

All the 4.x documentation is on the EMC Support website: https://support.emc.com/products/34156_XtremIO-HW-Gen2-400GB/Documentation/

Avi - I just checked that link you sent as well and the Hardware Install Guide and Software Install Guides are still not showing up for 4.x - do you see something different on your end? All I see now is the Host Config, User Guide, and release notes for 4.x.

Also - it looks like the 4.x guides are not on support.emc.com - is this a known issue?

OK..thanks...so that is what I see....looks like the Hardware Install and Software Install guides are no longer posted for the 4.x release - not sure if that is an internal issue or done for a reason. Luckily I was able to get the hardware guide through Solve at this moment and will validate with support on the install process if they respond to me.

Yeah - I got the docs through Solve....just curious why they weren't online all of a sudden since I could see them before and we have met all required XtremIO requirements. I would imagine internally you can see them all since that stuff is open to everyone in the company when an employee....just curious if other partners/customers were also not seeing the docs since I could see them fine over the weekend preparing for this install.

The docs are available, and I want to check if you can access this URL or not.

I get " You are not authorized to access this page."

And the HW installation and upgrade guide should be available at https://support.emc.com/docu59662_XtremIO-4.0-and-4.0.1-Storage-Array-Hardware-Installation-and-Upgrade-Guide.pdf?language=en_US
