XPS 17 9710, green squiggly lines, video full screen
Hi,
I've recently bought the XPS 17 9710. It has now started to show green squiggly lines all over the screen when playing videos in windows Film & TV. But here's the strange thing, it only does this when it is in full screen, and when the mouse is left for a few seconds for the cursor and UI to disappear. As soon as I move the mouse cursor again, it goes back to normal. And it doesn't appear to happen viewing the same videos on VLC. I think I have recently done an update to some intel drivers via Dell Update, could this be the cause?
Kind regards

March windows 11 update has brought back the issue, reverting back to the v27 driver gets us back working again, going to be annoying having to do this every month.
Tip: when you get the video issue hold down buttons [Windows] + [ctrl] + [shift] and press [B], this will reset the video driver to temporary make the display viewable to allow you to reinstall the old driver. Microsoft gave this tip on the March update overview video so I suspect it's a wide spread issue that they don't want to clearly state.

I had the same issue that started about a week ago which I've now think I've resolved for currently available drivers where I've in effect gone to an older driver version. Below photo of what I was seeing, black & white display, vertical lines, screen would flash with large black lines when I moved the mouse.
Sequence of events:-
I'll probable wait a couple of months now before updating my video drivers and also learn the lesson not to update my drivers as soon as they are offered to me.

I did get a private reply from @DELL-Cares, but in relation to a LCD dead pixel question. If I do get a reply for this particular issue I will share it here.
I like the laptop a lot, but there are some strange issues, besides the video playback. Having troubles with my USB mouse, which stops working after a few seconds and HD Audio drivers disappearing after a reboot, occasionally coming back.
I haven't see any of these issues on my old XPS 9560. I did a fresh Windows 10 install, and the issues with the mouse and HD Audio drivers disappearing are present there as well. Next step is probably downgrading the bios and see if that helps.

I like the laptop very much too. I am also coming from perfectly working XPS 9560 4K
I also noticed that my mouse that uses USB wireless dongle, from time to time stops working - it is a bit annoying as you start expecting the unexpected - and it is hard to focus working.
The USB dongle is connected to my monitor - and the monitor is connected to my laptop. I use the monitor as a hub for the mouse and keyboard only. Now I am testing with a dongle directly connected to the laptop.
For some reason the Microphone driver stopped working - I did a Windows 11 troubleshooting from the settings for the Audio device and it got fixed after a restart.
I am thinking if creating a restore point should be a MUST DO before any Dell drivers update from now on. Something that I never had to think about before.
Currently playing videos works fine with this Intel driver Version: 27.20.100.9664, A01 (15 Jun 2021)

I have the same issue. After screen goes black (energy saving) it will come back like this! This issue arrised after a recent video driver update!

Wondering if any of you folks having side discussions with Dell support? Dell support is being very responsive in my case, but missing the mark with their questions completely. So far they just zoomed in on my mouse issue, completely ignoring the issues discussed in this thread, which I keep referring to in the private conversations I have with them.
I keep answering the same questions over and over again. It is getting so frustrating that I'm contemplating sending the machine back. Not only because of the niggling issues with the laptop, but also the frustration dealing with Dell support.

27.20.100.9664 is the only driver that's working for me. All the drivers after that have the same issue. Tried every single one of them up until 30.0.101.1340 (Intel Driver).
Interesting that you got the driver through windows update.
