XPS 13 Plus 9320 Trackpad oily and seems impossible to keep clean

I've had this computer for a few months now, and the trackpad area is always oily in the exactly the same spots. I clean it often following Dell's instructions and the same spots reappear almost immediately. I'm wondering if some kind of oleophobic coating is wearing away. Am I missing something? Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

I thoroughly wash my hands before using the computer as you can imagine I'm trying to make sure this doesn't happen. I've also never had this happen so quickly on any computer, including an XPS 13 that I had for several years before this one. Based upon Reddit posts on the DellXPS subreddit, I am not the only person experiencing this. Thank you for your suggestion though.

Turning the question around, the only way for the touchpad to become oily in the first place is by transference from your hands.  What happens if you thoroughly wash your hands before they contact the touchpad?

The surface of the keyboard/touchpad/palmrest will only stay as clean as the skin with which it makes contact.

What are you using the clean the surface? If I remember correctly, it is supposed to be a 'glass' surface. I have the 9320 Plus as well.

I've used a damp microfiber cloth, "whoosh" cleaner for electronics, and diluted isopropyl 30%. They all work but the oil marks come back very quickly, starting with a specific mark in the center. As it spreads out again, you can see a lattice kind of formation, like it's following a pattern of something under the glass.

Yes for some reason the center does leave a weird line sometimes. I have found the problem sort of fixes itself, try cleaning it and then not using the surface for a while afterwards. If you have a mouse use that instead.

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing it. I'll do as you suggest and use a mouse when I can, thanks!
