XPS 13 9360: Webcam not recognized

Hi,

I noticed that the integrated Webcam of my XPS 13 9360 is not recognized (anymore?). Neither by the browsers, nor by the Win10 camera app. It's also not listed in the Device Manager.

I barely used the webcam in the past 1.5 years, but I recall testing it when I first got the machine. In the meantime the mainboard got replaced by Dell (due to a different error), the system got re-installed and I updated to the latest Win10 version. However I cannot tell at what point the webcam stopped being recognized.

SupportAssist tells me that I'm running the latest drivers and BIOS. The Webcam is enabled in the BIOS. I couldnt find a suitable fix in this forum besides replacing the display.

Do you have any idea what I could try next?

Many thanks in advance!

Max

Which Camera app are you talking about?

In Windows 10's search box, type hdwwiz and run it. Search for the driver in Windows System 32 folder.  See if that works.

If you are desperate, I would just go buy an external webcam.

Hi Max,

Thanks for posting.  Apologies that your system is not performing as expected.

If your webcam is showing in the BIOS but not in Windows 10, there's a possibility that the driver did not load correctly or became corrupted.  This happens with updates sometimes.

Here is a short video from a source outside Dell, that may fix your issue.  It's not endorsed by Dell, but does have good information.

My webcam stopped working at some point. When I click on Camera, it reports error code "0XA00F4244 ". I need to use Zoom now, but cannot get the camera to work. It doesn't even show in the Control Panel. I even made it to show hidden devices, but no luck. There is no camera, no webcam, and no listing under Imaging devices. I followed the advice given above in the YouTube video, but still no luck. I tried reinstalling the Camera app from the Windows Store, but it reports that it is already installed, which is true. Yet nothing recognizes the camera, though it was working before. I need further advice.
