Seemingly faulty touch pad on Dell XPS 9500

Dear Community,

When I bought the Dell XPS 9500, from the very beginning it has had a touch pad problem. The touch pad seems to the "loose". Especially when I try to register a click on the bottom left corner of the touch bad, nothing happens. Although I am able to move the cursor using the same area but not register a click: there seems to be nothing underneath it. Moreover, the bottom left corner seems to be more "wobbly" when gently applied pressure with a finger compared to the other side of the touch pad.

Furthermore, sometimes there's another issue. When I am simply using the touch pad to move the cursor on the screen it sometimes starts to move weirdly. Like it "jumps" from one place to another but it always uses the same "jump pattern". Image the cursor going down the stairs: zig-zag.

Therefore, the touch pad becomes unusable or it is very annoying to use. Getting the cursor to the spots I want becomes really difficult. But then when I restart the computer, the issue disappears (only to become back later, sometimes almost instantly, sometimes after a few days).

What could be the issue here?

I definitely seem to have some sort of hardware issue with the "loose" touch pad but also some software issue (because the restart of the system makes the issue of zig-zag cursor movement away for some time)?

What should I do?

Thank you very much!
