XPS One 2710, bios update failure

Running windows 10. Was just prompted to update my bios from 8 to 14. Now it won't start. Blue screen of death.

I'm getting "inaccessible boot device" as the stop code

Click the Main tab in BIOS setup and see if your HDD is correctly identified on the SATA 1 port.

Assuming the HDD is correctly recognized on SATA 1, click the Advanced tab and see if SATA Mode is set to AHCI or ATA. It should be set to AHCI. Save the change, if any, exit and let it reboot.

I am wondering if I should reset the BIOS to the default settings?  Will that work ok with Windows 10 though?

thanks. Here is what that page was showing without me changing anything, does that look ok?  Windows Boot Manager appears as the first device, but it is still failingIMG_20200916_011103.jpg

Reboot and start tapping F2 when you see the Dell splash screen to open BIOS setup.

When setup opens look for Boot options and make sure Windows Boot Manager is set as "1st Boot".  Save the change, if any, exit setup and let the PC reboot itself, hopefully without that error.

Unfortunately I'm now struggling to even get into the BIOS. I just get a black screen when I switch it on. Possibly if I let it cool down, it might work again later (I hope)

Sounds like it's time to take it to a reputable PC shop for diagnosis and repair. Or contact Dell's Out-Of-Warranty-Repair for an estimate.
