What is the model number of a new XPS Tower?

I am interested in buying a new XPS Tower, but I could not figure out what the model numbers are. On the webpage on XPS Desktops https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/desktops-all-in-one-pcs/sr/desktops-n-workstations/xps-desktops the items are all labelled XPS Tower or XPS Tower Special Edition, but there is no mention of any model numbers.

Searching on the product support page https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/products?app=products shows that there are 5 different model numbers XPS 8900/8910/8920/8930/8940 (that are not legacy XPS models) Each model has its own product support information with Overview, Diagnostics, Drivers & Downloads. Documentation, Service Events, and Parts & Accessories.

Is there a way to figure out, what the model numbers of the XPS Towers in the first URL are?

All these are XPS 8940.  Tower and SE (special edition) are just like Camry LE and XLE.  When you click get started underneath

Drivers, Manuals & Support

it shows the generic model number.

Thanks, hopefully the model number(s) will be on the XPS Towers webpage when Windows 11 comes pre-installed, supposedly on October 5, a little over 2 weeks from now.

Valinger, All,

* Go here
* I see 12 XPS Tower on page 1

* Take your mouse and hover (don't click) on the 1st XPS Tower picture
* The bottom left of your browser shows a long string which contains XPS 8940

Well, someone ought to tell Dell that they should put at least the model number 'XPS 8940' right on the webpage. Like Dell does it for 'Optiplex 3080 Small Form Factor', 'Vostro 3888 Compact Desktop', etc. and not hide the '8940' towards the end of a mouseover of a pic (I see the '8940' twice, BTW, presumably because it appears twice in the path towards that pic)

I would really appreciate seeing the model number (XPS 8950?) of the new Windows 11 devices that I am interested in, right on their webpages.

(No, I would not buy a Windows 10 device now and get the free upgrade to Windows 11, I want Windows 11 pre-installed)

Thanks!

@Valinger

I thought some systems you could pre order Windows 11 and it be shipped after October 5th. But I guess I was wrong. Personally I am gonna stay on Windows 10 because I have not had any of the issues people seem to have. Windows 10 has been great for me. I am not sure when the XPS 8950 or even if there will be one. But when you get Windows 11 Preinstalled I suggest you get Pro Version. Home version is going to force you to have a Microsoft Account.

Good luck hope you find one.

October 5th appears to be the official release date of Windows 11. From what I am hearing is that computer manufacturers like Dell need time to actually manufacture Windows 11 devices, so availability is moved out to the holiday season (?)

@Valinger Dell already manufactures PCs that support Windows 11. In my opinion, the biggest issue is that Windows 11 is not 100% stable and that there are problems reported by the people running the latest beta versions. I think it is unlikely that these problems will be resolved by Oct. 5. If you want a new PC and want to run Windows 11, I would order a PC with Windows 10 but that is capable of running Windows 11 and upgrading at a later date. Windows 11 will be available through a free upgrade for Windows 10 PCs capable of running Windows 11.

Nearly all Windows 10 devices manufactured since 2018 meet the Windows 11 System Requirements, although the TPM 2.0 and the Secure Boot requirements sometimes needs turning on, which a (free) upgrade Windows 10 > Windows 11 is supposed to do. There are cheapo solutions to  technically satisfy the TPM 2.0 requirement (fTPM, PTT) It is one of those buyer beware issues (for ALL computer manufacturers) and things can quickly become complex. IMHO the best way to avoid any surprises is to carefully buy a well-specified device that comes with Windows 11 pre-installed like I said in previous posts.

OS stability is always a concern with early releases. I have a newish (less than 1 year old) Windows 10 laptop that meets the Windows 11 System Requirements. I am concerned that MS upgrades it too early to Windows 11 (via the automatic Windows Update process) like what MS did with the surprise upgrades of Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10 in 2015-6. It is no fun  living with OS stability issues on an important device. IMHO, an OS is really stable only after 3 years (although still with a long list of known bugs, like Windows 10 these days after 6 years) But OS stability is merely a matter of 'oh well, just another restart' on an unimportant device, though.

I have the same question. I am looking at the Core-i5 version which has DDR5 RAM:

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/desktop-computers/new-xps-desktop/spd/xps-8950-desktop/xd8950adl10h?configurationid=84a629cf-2b3e-4aa2-935f-a0f3d669af3f#techspecs_section

There is no model number shown but the link address suggests it is 8950. I particularly like it because it has a large case which is the same size is my Vostro 3900G MT.

There is nothing like it available on the Dell Japan website. All they have is old, very expensive Core-i7 models with DDR4 RAM. I am very disappointed.
