Wyse 5070 Thinos 2211 disconnects from Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops when using Chrome

A couple of months ago I set up a brand new Citrix Virtual Apps & Desktops environment and ordered a bunch of Wyse 5070 Thin Clients running ThinOS. Since day one these have been having issues when using Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Specific web sites cause the session to disconnect. The VDA is running on a Windows Server 2022 and all the components are updated to the latest version. The other day I upgraded the Thin clients to 2211 but unfortunately they still keep getting disconnected. I have no idea if it's a browser redirection issue or if it's something else. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So after about a week of testing It's pretty obvious that it's a Wyse issue. I replaced one of the thin clients with a tiny pc running Ubuntu 22.04 with the Citrix Workspace app installed. The Wyse 5070 next to it has disconnected the session several times, but not a single issue with the pc.

Hi TheGary!
I have the same problem with a lot of Wyse 5070 and with the NEW Dell Optiplex 3000 TC. I have tested different ThinOS versions and I don't know why they get suddenly disconnected.
All our VDA are running on Windows Server 2019, I have some VDA on Windows 10 that gets suddenly disconnected too.
I've tested with some old Wyse (T10, 3030 LT, T10D, DX0D) with ThinOS 8.6_XXX and they never get random disconnections.
It's a ThinOS matter and I don't know wha to do

Hi Jorpavon

I've narrowed it down to a software issue and I'm about to create a support ticket. Unfortunately these thin clients were bought with basic warranty, so I have to upgrade to prosupport first. I've already downloaded a log bundle from one of the clients, but I can't make heads or tails of it.

I've tried every combination of browser content redirection and html5 video redirection. I've also tried disabling session reliability and enabling ICA keep alive.

So far nothing has made any noticeable difference. Still random disconnects.

ThinOS 2303 and CWA 2302 will be posted at the end of this week.  I would suggest testing again with this release, and get a case opened with engineering for investigation.

I've tried browser content redirection yesterday, with no results, the session gets disconnected.

All 5070:s upgraded to ThinOS 2303 (9.4.1141), bios 1.21 and CWA 23.2.0.10.4. Fingers crossed.

Hello, I have exactly the same issue with sporadic disconnects from Citrix, even doing noting in the session. This problem has appeared since version 2205 ThinOS 9.3.x and since 2208, 2211 and 2303 there has been no improvement on this point. I have been in contact with Dell support for several months without having found a solution. We are using VDA 1912 CU5

We have already tested ThinOS 9.4.1141 and CWA 23.2 for 2 weeks and the session gets disconnected!

We are having the same issue with the disconnects but not happening to many people, which I thought was odd. The disconnects seem to happening mostly when people are in zoom conference calls.

Has anyone submitted a ticket with Citrix?

I have already opened a ticket at Citrix, they asked me to reproduce the problem with a full version of Ubuntu which I could not do. It is really very complicated to understand these disconnections, for some it can happen twice a day and for others never or once a week.

It's only been a couple of days. I haven't heard anything from the users yet. I guess no news is good news.

yes this whole situation is very weird. We have one person who it hasn't happened in over a month and the other its happens every couple of days. None of this makes any kind of sense here. We actually only have like three people that has reported the issue.

Sorry to ask if you already answered, but you have also downgraded the OS/BIOS/Citrix version?

Also when you get the diconnects are you getting full citrix disconnects that the user has to restart a new session or can you reboot your thin client and reopen an exsisting session?
