USB Headset muted on ThinOS

Hi all,

 

We have been facing a weird issue for the last several months. Our USB headsets are getting muted randomly and this is driving me a bit nuts. This is usually noticeable when the user tries to make a calls or receives a call or jump on a meeting. Easy workaround is to unplug, wait a few seconds and then plug in the headset again. Sound is not impacted. Only the microphone is. And it's muted on an operating system level. If you try to make a test on windows, no mic sound is being picked up. The device is listed under windows but it's actually not working.

 

We have literally tried everything with no luck so far. We have a ticket open with Dell since June 2022 and we ticket with VMware since Nov 2022. Dell initially said this is vmware horizon issue but vmware concluded this is a thin client issue. Just to add, users on their own devices and not on a thin client (we're on ThinOS2211), are not affected by this. And as you might gathered, we're using VMWare Horizon VDIs (v.7.13).

 

Anyone has ever come across to this before?

I also have had this issue.  I have worked with Dell Engineers, and is supposed to be fixed in version 9.3.3099.

We've been told the same but sadly 2211 did not fix it for us. Still working with Dell engineers but no luck so far.
