How to migrate ThinOS ini files/FTP Server?

I need to migrate this setup to a newer OS.

A domain controller hosts a FTP Server is setup for anon access to C:\FTPDirectory. Inside FTPDirectory there's a wnos and wyse folder (not sure which is used). The user who configures new Wyse Thin Clients says he logs into the thin client with a pre-defined username that has a ini created for it, and after that the thin client knows what to do.

I've looked into DHCP, and don't see any server or scope options. People who set this up have all left the company.

How do these units know what to do from just plugging in a username? I've looked through documentation and can't figure it out without configuring

It's possible the terminal was set up manually to look at the FTP server; it will then hold onto that configuration in a local cache until it gets re-configured by something, be that DHCP Options or another manual configuration.

You need to check the terminal itself to see what, if anything, is set as regards FTP servers.  If it knows what to do based on an ini file per user, then there must be some configuration on it telling it where to look.

As to which folder the terminal is getting it's config, by default it uses ftpserver\wyse\wnos - but that's by default.  You'd need to poke around in it's config under admin mode to see if that is specified differently.   It gets the main config from wnos.ini in the default path, and then there's another folder just called 'ini' as a subfolder, where it looks for an ini file matching the user's login name.   That's how it knows what to do for a specific user.
