Why won't WDM connect to a local SQL 2008 R2 database for installation?

Why won't WDM connect to a local SQL 2008 R2 database for installation?

Pardon me if I sound irritated, but the WDM installation software is causing me more grief than I think it should. When I go to do the installation, I want to provide it with the connection info for my local sqlexpress installation. It is SQL Express 2008 R2. I can connect to it from other servers and clients on my network. However, the WDM installation always tells me it can't connect. The worst part of it is that WDM will not reinstall at this point because it needs to be uninstalled. And, of course, the software won't uninstall unless it can connect to the database. Please point me to the article that reads 'if you are a dumbo and can't do a simple install, click here'.

Thanks!

Dave S.

Actually yes, but it can do much more then that. It can tell you how your subject feels, and by that giving you a competitive edge to negotiate a better deal, hire better personnel, choose a more reliable supplier, and even just let you know if the person talking to you is simply not being honest.
